The cat's already out of the bag, but we're so happy to formally announce that in February 2018 we set the @GuinnessWorldRecords highest altitude #hockey game! This event was about more than just setting a record, though. It was an opportunity for The Hockey Foundation to continue changing lives via hockey in the Himalayan region of #Ladakh. In addition to the annual equipment and coaching program that has been ongoing since 2009, we were able to donate a set of international-regulation rink boards to support the completion of an arena in Leh. How to set a Guinness World Record. Step 1. Find a location deep in the remote Indian Himalayas. Step 2. Purchase and ship regulation hockey boards from Europe to and across India via Cargo ship, train and military plane. Step 3. Load boards onto trucks and send them over one of the highest mountain passes on earth. Step 4. Reconstruct boards with minimal tools on a frozen flood plane at 14,300 feet elevation in Arctic-like temperatures. Step 5. Invite hockey teams from around the world. Step 6. Add water Step 7.
